Meet mythical creature Tengu and feel power at Mt. Takao in Tokyo

Mt. Takao (Takao-san) has been a sacred mountain for over 1,200 years. It is home to Yakuo-in Temple, founded in the 8th century as a site of Buddhist and Shugendo (mountain asceticism) worship. The mountain has long been associated with Tengu, mythical creatures believed to protect the area and guide spiritual seekers.

Located just an hour from central Tokyo, Mount Takao stands at 599 meters and offers breathtaking natural scenery.

Rich Biodiversity.Home to over 1,600 plant including sacred very big cedar trees, species and diverse wildlife.

Multiple Hiking Trails: The most popular is Trail No. 1, a paved path leading to the summit. But I like No. 6, as trekking along the narrow river and breathtaking area in forest for 100mins.

For a more relaxed ascent, visitors can take a cable car or chair lift halfway up. The cable car is the steepest cable car in Japan, with a maximum incline of 31 degrees. It takes passengers from the base of the mountain to an altitude of 472 meters, offering a comfortable and scenic ride.

Stunning cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant autumn leaves, and clear winter skies with views of Mt. Fuji.

Today we saw very clear sky and unforgettable view of Mt. Fuji.
