MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART TOKYO
The Ryuichi Sakamoto exhibition is now on Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, till end of March 2025.
Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952-2023), a musician and artist, created new paths for his time through innovative approaches. Since the 2000s, he worked with other artists to create exhibitions featuring three-dimensional sound art.
This exhibition, the first large-scale one in Japan, showcases his unique ideas and creative challenges. Including new pieces he envisioned specifically for this event before his passing, which will be displayed both inside and outside the museum.
Although the work is not during era of YMO nor his self famous musical works I heard before, but felt this exhibition will bring many people new artistic inspiration. His experimental sound works, blending nature-inspired ambient sounds with electronic and classical elements.
Felt as Interdisciplinary music, technology, and visual art. Installations may combine audio, video projections, and interactive elements, emphasizing his innovative use of media.
